Before my memories fails and the excitement dies down, I've decided to pen down my experiences and share some beautiful photos taken in Xinjiang today.
Day 1 (9 June):
Took a 8.50am flight to Guangzhou to transit to Urumqi.
Here's an interesting English translation found in the toilet of the airport at Guangzhou.
Here's the fun people I went for the trip with.
The not-so-nice meal on the plane. Almost every meal comes with pickles.
The beautiful scenery from the plane.
We checked into Tunhe Ramada Hotel at 298 Yuan, which is about S$60. Pretty decent price for a decent room which comes with computer and free internet access. However, Facebook, blogger and MSN are blocked in China. So, we could only check our emails and send safety reports to our family. As it is a business single room, there's only 1 queen size bed. Elaine, Yanling and myself had to "fit" ourselves onto the bed at night. Little moving space. However, if you are travelling alone or in twos, the room is perfect!
We had our first BBQ lamb and chicken wings. And the most interesting dish that we had for that day was this plate of little lobsters. The spice was SOLID!
That's the end for day 1.
